Choose your Elopement Theme with these 5 simple steps

Choose your Elopement Theme with these 5 simple steps

Are you planning an elopement theme for your intimate wedding?

There is something very special about nuptials that take place in far-away exotic destinations, against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains, beaches, or beautiful cities. No doubt, these locations are gorgeous but don't forget the legwork that needs to go into celebrating in these far-off spots – especially when choosing the theme if you want something unique and beautiful.

When selecting a theme, remain true to your aesthetic, or stylistic preferences and tastes. To help you, I am going to share a few simple steps that can help you plan a theme-based elopement.

1. Pick the ceremony location.

Choosing your ceremony location is an essential part of planning an elopement theme as it will influence many elements such as your attire, decor, and more. Don't forget to consider if there are mountains, trees, greenery, ocean, buildings, etc; in the locale,  you’ve selected.

Pick a destination that provides the ambiance or significance you are looking for, along with the necessary conveniences for yourself and your guests.

2. Pick the date and time of the year.

Often the seasons offering the best weather in some popular destinations can result in more crowds, ultimately leading to less availability and higher prices. So if possible, choose to elope where you can take advantage of the pleasant weather as well as be able to book the accommodation easily.

3. Go local

When you are choosing the overall style, consider the destination.

Try building your color palette around the hues that are an inherent element of the spot, like pretty blues to reflect the sea, or white and creams to tie in with the snow-capped mountains in the background. You can also highlight the gorgeousness of the locale by choosing a ceremony site that captures the beautiful views perfectly.

If you are planning a boho-chic elopement theme then you could consider macrame decorations, vintage jewelry, late summer flowers, and dream catchers. Your decor could include accessories from your personal collection to incorporate your style into the processing. Try to include locally sourced florals, too, to add vibrancy and chime with the vibe of the area. Shades of soft lavender, off-white, and touches of sage green usually work wonderfully.

4. Create the ambiance

When planning an elopement theme, it is essential to think of the little touches that make all the difference. Discuss with your planners how you can further style your elopement.

For example- take into consideration the venue and the lighting provision. You could also hang string or fairy lights or incorporate candles for a beautiful romantic vibe. If you are planning an outdoor session, have your planner see if you need photo permits or anything else.

5. Dressing part

As a stylish bride, think outside of the box, even when it comes to your wedding dress.

It will be an intimate ceremony, so you don't need to go for a lot of customization unless this is your personal preference. And you don't necessarily need the traditional bridal gown unless that is what you ideally want.

For example, if you have chosen to get married by the beach, you can opt for lighter and solid colors in breathable, floaty fabrics.

While choosing your gown, don't forget to consider the climate of the location. You may want to weave in some local elements, too, such as beading or flowers.

Each destination has its own vibe and colors which you would want to blend with but without being too matchy-matchy.

Whether you choose the beach, mountains, vast stretches of desert, or snow wherever you elope, think about the vibe and the experience you want.

For example – if you want to simply walk down to the beach then is there any specific style you are looking for that will narrow down your options? Go for the colors that contrast the landscapes- for example at a beach, a black dress will stand out more, whereas, in the darker mountains, a white dress will look stunning.

Or else, you can have a more of a monochromatic theme like the modern minimalist.

I hope the ideas I have shared will be helpful as you begin to plan your elopement.

The best part about having an elopement theme wedding is that you just need to focus on your partner and what makes you both happier.

Don't forget that the day is 100% yours, so just choose the elements the way you want.
